College Prospects Showcases
Many high school juniors are starting to consider colleges and college tennis programs. Finding a school that fits both their academic and athletic needs can be a challenge; one such challenge is getting exposure to college coaches. While coaches can get an idea of a player’s overall level of play through a ranking and list of accomplishments, there’s no substitute for them seeing a live match in both singles and doubles.
Each summer Donovan Tennis Strategies holds the College Prospects Showcases to provide prospective college players with exposure to college coaches. The event is a unique opportunity for players to play on teams in a college dual match format. It's also an excellent opportunity for college coaches to see top prospects play both singles and doubles in a competitive format. Coaches receive a biography on each player, detailing their tennis and academic information. In addition, a question and answer session with a panel of college coaches allows parents to learn more about the recruiting process.
2008 Showcase Review
Yale Showcase
The 8th Annual Donovan Tennis Strategies College Prospects Showcase was held June 19th and 20th, 2008 at the Yale University Tennis Center in New Haven, CT. The event started with a question and answer session for parents. A small panel of college coaches representing men's and women's programs in Divisions I, II, and III was assembled to field questions about the recruiting process.
Matches began after the introduction of players and coaches. A total of 48 boys and 48 girls from 19 states and 3 foreign countries were selected from 160 applicants. Players were divided into teams and competed in a team dual-match format. Coaches representing 119 college programs (64 women's and 55 men's) attended the event. College coaches were provided a profile on each participant; including the player's contact information, grades, test scores, ranking history, and a picture.

California Showcase
The 3rd Annual DTS Southern California Showcase was held July 5th and 6th, 2008 at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. The event started with a question and answer session for parents. A small panel of college coaches representing a variety of programs was assembled to field questions about the recruiting process.
Matches began after the introduction of players and coaches. A total of 29 boys and 34 girls from 14 states and one foreign country participated. Players were divided into teams and competed in both singles and doubles. Coaches representing 23 college programs attended the event. Each coach was provided a profile on each participant; including the player's contact information, grades, test scores, ranking history, and a picture.
Day two started with a presentation by Mike Trushke, Director of Admissions at Pepperdine, who provided insights into college admissions procedures and gave valuable advice to players and parents.
