2006 Showcase Review

Yale Showcase

The 6th Annual Donovan Tennis Strategies College Prospects Showcase was held June 22nd and 23rd 2006 at the Yale University Tennis Center in New Haven, CT.  The event started with a question and answer session for parents.  A small panel of college coaches representing men’s and women’s programs in Divisions I, II, and III was assembled to field questions about the recruiting process. 

Matches began after the introduction of players and coaches. A total of 48 boys and 40 girls from 15 states and 5 foreign countries were selected from 150 applicants.  Players were divided into teams and competed in a team dual-match format.  Coaches representing 92 college programs (41 men’s and 51 women’s) attended the event.  Each coach was provided a profile on each participant; including the player’s contact information, grades, test scores, ranking history, and a picture.

Southern California Showcase

The Donovan Tennis Strategies Southern California Showcase was held July 8th and 9th, 2006, at the Claremont Colleges, in Claremont, CA.  The event started with a question and answer session for parents.  A small panel of college coaches representing a variety of programs was assembled to field questions about the recruiting process. 

Matches began after the introduction of players and coaches. A total of 21 boys and 14 girls from 14 states and 2 foreign countries participated.  Players were divided into teams and competed in both singles and doubles.  Coaches representing 26 college programs attended the event.  Each coach was provided a profile on each participant; including the player’s contact information, grades, test scores, ranking history, and a picture.

Day two started with a presentation by Patrick McHorney, admissions counselor at Claremont McKenna College, who provided insights into college admissions procedures and gave valuable advice to players and parents.
